Dale R. Mead, M.D.

Welcome to River Valley Orthopedics! I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some information about myself and my experience in healthcare. I was born in the Chicago area and grew up in Iowa and North Muskegon, MI. I attended Albion College in Michigan where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. I received my medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. I then completed a 5 year orthopaedic surgery residency program here in Grand Rapids. I’ve been with River Valley Orthopedics since 1985. I’m also a clinical professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Department of Surgery.
As a board certified orthopedic surgeon, my work is dedicated to the treatment of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system (the bones and joints of your body). I specialize in the treatment of shoulders, knees and hips. I was one of the first physicians in Western Michigan to perform computer assisted total knee surgery. It’s my mission to provide you with excellent care and service. I always strive to provide you the same high-quality orthopedic care that I would offer to a family member.
In addition, I enjoy swimming, watching movies and spending leisure time with my wife and children.
